Foods that are Cholesterol Free

Cholesterol is a waxy substance that can clogs arteries. Although it can be a problem, it is necessary, and the body creates it every day.

Cholesterol is necessary for the formation of body cells. If cholesterol levels gets too high, it can cause a stroke. High cholesterol levels are considered a primary risk factor for heart disease, and may cause gall stones (see Gall Stone Healing .com). If you eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly, it's possible to your cholesterol level. Eating cholesterol free foods and taking lecithin and vitamin E supplements also help greatly.

When we talk about eating cholesterol free foods, it's hoped you won't just eat junk food with no cholesterol, but rather eat quality food. You should eat at least three to five servings of fruit or vegetables, and raw is better than cooked.

Most people don't know that fruits and vegetables don't have cholesterol. Only animal products have cholesterol. Fruits and vegetables can be eaten as snacks, side dishes and as a main dish. A vegetarian dish can be a main course. Naturally, all fruits and vegetables should be washed before they are eaten.

Carbohydrates like potatos, rice, cereals, bread, peas and pasta are foods that are starchy, may have fiber, but are low in fat.

Five servings of fruits and vegetables are important, and it's usually recommended to also eat five to ten servings of carbohydrates daily as well. People with a low cholesterol level should maintain carbohydrate intake to about 60% of the total calories. You should choose whole grain breads instead of white bread because they have more fiber and nutrition.

Dry cereals are generally lower in fat, so they shouold be purchased and prepared. Baked goods and other foods with sugar whould be avoided, as the are just empty calories and are not at all healthy. Many of them also have a high cholesterol content.

When you eat at a restaurant, try to eat low-cholesterol, low-fat, healthy meals. Ask your waiter or waitress how the foods are prepared there, and which are healthiest.

Avoid fried food and food that is breaded, covered with cheese, and dishes that are high in fat.

Choose dishes that are steamed, baked, grilled, poached or broiled instead of breaded or fried. If you have to buy fast food, try to get salads and vegetables, and avoid burgers layered with cheese, mayonnaise and bacon. Try to eat broiled chicken, fish and lean meats.

Bacon and sausage have a high amount of cholesterol. Eggs have taken a bad rap, because they have cholesterol, but they also have lecithing, and lecithin helps homogenize cholesterol, so it doesn't cause problems. Many people are starting to eat fruits and vegetables and high fiber cereal for breakfast to get healthier.
